What is Writing?

Writing is the representation of concepts or ideas on a surface through symbols or codes designated by the written form of a language.

Writing derives from the Latin scribire, which in turn has an Indo-European root that indicated the action of tracing or scratching.

Writing is an act of communication and a channel through which a message is transmitted to the receiver.

Writing also indicates the composition of a more complex and elaborate message, such as a book, speech, or music.

You can use various writing instruments or tools such as: a computer, a typewriter, a pencil, a pen, or a marker.

Synonyms for writing are: annotate, trace, calligraphy, write, publish. It can be considered antonyms of writing: speaking, shouting, murmuring.

Writing in English translates write or type if typed through a machine.
