What is the Squadron?

The term squadron is closely linked to the military sphere. In principle, squadrons are tactical, combat, and cavalry units, normally commanded by a captain or lieutenant , which are governed by the military service regulations of each country.

Also, the term squadron is used for military units of the air forces, flight, or warships. As such, the term squadron refers to the separate, structured, administrative, tactical unit ready to act en masse and fulfill its specific missions.

Formerly, the military unit was made up of infantry weapons and cavalry. After World War II, and the respective evolution within the troops, the cavalry were replaced by mechanized troops; of cars, light and mechanized.

It is noteworthy that each squadron is formed to fulfill specific functions, such as: non-nuclear bombings, surveillance and reconnaissance, electronic warfare, strategic bombardment, among others. Also, squads are usually identified by nicknames, and represents the image that bears the name of their nickname.

In physical education , squad or squad training consists of the formation of rows and rows. The identified is widely used in representative parades.

However, there is an American cartoon series by the name of Superhero Squad, from Marvel Animation and Film Roman. Series that portrays the characters of the Marvel Universe. The main heroes are: Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, among others.

The synonyms for the term squadron are: battalion, group, company.
